Social Media Adoption Among Theatres

Theatres adoption of the six most popular social media platforms versus November 2009’s unique visitors (measured in millions). Twitter is more popular than its size would warrant, blogs are slightly less popular than they should be. Probably because there’s such high user engagement [...]

Flickr: Under Utilized or Not Worth the Effort?Flickr: Under Utilized or Not Worth the Effort?

Photo-blogging? Commentary on early design ideas? Photo scavenger hunts? I couldn’t find any theatres using Flickr for any of these purposes. Maybe theatre audiences wouldn’t be interested. Maybe theatre staff don’t see the point (or haven’t found the time). Only 1/3 of LORT theatres have Flickr profiles. But more joined [...]

Is Anybody Left on MySpace? Is Anybody Left on MySpace?

Could MySpace be the place for theatres to engage with younger, more ethnically diverse, and less affluent fans than Facebook and Twitter? Maybe; but few (fans or theatres) seem to still be making a concerted effort on MySpace. In fact, the avearge theatre gets more comments/@mentions on [...]

Theatres on YouTube: Dispelling MythsTheatres on YouTube: Dispelling Myths

Just how popular is YouTube with theatres and their audiences? What makes for a “watchable” video? Just who’s watching these videos and how do they find them? What’s the value in uploading videos to YouTube? Link to more.

Theatres & Blogs: a bit of a mysteryTheatres & Blogs: a bit of a mystery

Half of LORT theatres do it. Few find sustained user engagement. Are theatre’s blogs a legacy of days gone past, or will the trend continue to rise? Does it pay off to continue blogging if you’re also Facebooking and Tweeting? What are users looking for in a theatre’s blog? I’ve [...]

Tracking @mentionsTracking @mentions

The gauntlet’s been thrown. I thought @americanrep was doing a great job engaging folks online so I wanted to track a little closer what they’re doing, who’s interested, and what the impact might be. Now if only this analysis could be standardized and automated…Link to more

Non-LORT IndexNon-LORT Index

Based on a few requests, I’m starting a non-LORT indexed list as well. It’s possible I’ll collapse the two lists at some point. But for now, if you’ve got theatres I should add, feel free to let me know via @devonvsmith. WARNING: I’m a full time student, but I’m doing [...]

@mentions as measure of user engagement@mentions as measure of user engagement

So here’s a theory I’m testing out: Having more followers, tweeting more often, and/or being followed by more lists doesn’t necessarily lead to more @mentions (the holy grail, at least for now). I’ve yet to determine what does generate @mentions, but I’m working on it…more soon. Link to more

(A) Listed Theatres

Link: (A) Listed Theatres

Surprise surprise: number of followers is the best predictor of how many lists are following you(r theatre). @GuthrieTheater leads the group with 71 lists following them. Don’t forget to check out http://listorious.com/ for more.

So are lists a better measure of user [...]

PS: non-LORT folks

like @BAM_Brooklyn (83), @mcctheater (78), gglasstheatre (70), and @SteppenwolfThtr (70) also score particularly high on the index…who else should I be looking at?
